“Unless you read deeply and in your own interests, unless you explore what is most profound in what has come before you and is around you, then you never get down to the recesses of your own self.” These words by Harold Bloom left a lasting impact on me when I first encountered them years ago. At the time, I had just moved to London from my native Morocco, brimming with excitement yet disoriented and overwhelmed by the unfamiliarity of my new surroundings. Since then, the intricacies and seeming contrasts between East and West have shaped me in countless ways, fostering a deep appreciation for the world’s pluralism while affirming my belief in a universal truth that connects us all.
It was this same affinity for unveiling and amplifying commonalities that led me to a career in technology, and eventually to a serendipitous encounter with Sanaa, Rea’s co-founder. Having ran a successful travel agency for over 23 years, Sanaa’s infectious love for travel and people became a driving force behind Rea. Born out of our shared desire to bridge the two worlds we call home, Rea seeks to create immersive, authentic travel experiences across the Middle East and North Africa — experiences centred around human connection, guided by insatiable curiosity, and designed to open new pathways to discovery of the self and the world at large.
Rooted in the Old Testament meaning of ‘friend’ and ‘fellow human’, intertwined with symbols of nurturing and creation in Greek mythology, and evoking the sunlit warmth and aromas of the Middle East and North Africa, Rea embodies in name and vision a desire to transcend barriers and reflect universal connections.
With all the comforts that make travel truly special, we invite you to embark on this journey with us—to uncover the mysteries and marvels of our part of the world, and to experience firsthand the warmth and richness of the people who call it home. And while Bloom’s impassioned call to gain a deeper appreciation of the world through books continues to deeply resonate, some things cannot be fully explained—they must be experienced.
